The truth of the matter is that God is in the midst of all education. He spoke the universe into existence; and with it, all of the laws that govern it. At International School, the students have the opportunity to learn about God’s presence in every area of academics, whether it is the incredible order of mathematics, the wonder of science, or the gift of language. Students learn to see the awesome character and care of God demonstrated everywhere around them.

Each new day of life that the Lord blesses us with is a new opportunity to learn. Following 6 years old, I've spent my entire life in education, growing from being a student myself to being an educator. It does not matter how long I will be an educator for, I will always be a student. I'm a student of Christ. I'm an awe-filled, dreamy eyed child that finds humor in light-hearted things and follows His teaching as there are so many things I have yet to learn. I learn something new each day. Something new about myself, something new about God's character, something new about the world around me, something new about my students or something new about what it means to teach.
The Greek philosopher Socrates once said, “The unexamined life is not worth living.” All around him Socrates saw men and women living without purpose and without passion. As he walked around the Athenian marketplace he saw people living for the same basic things: wealth, power and position. Therefore, Socrates set out on a one-man mission to get his fellow Athenians to examine their lives. Socrates was awarded for his efforts with the charge of “corrupting the youth” and was sentenced to death.
Psalm 148 calls for all the earth, animals, and people to praise God.
Praise is not just a form of words or exercise we say or sing at set times during the week. We do not praise God by just having the words come out of our mouths. Praise is a living condition — a joyful, thankful state of mind and heart that are acted upon. We must constantly challenge ourselves to keep Christ as the central reality of life.
You called in trouble, and I delivered you;
I answered you in the secret place of thunder;
I tested you at the waters of Meribah. Selah
Psalm 81:7
When my husband and I came to Honduras, I had recently completed two years of ministry training, and I was eager to see how God would use us. Although God did use us in many ways both small and large, it wasn't long before the homesickness crept in.

When I was asked to write this letter, I asked the Lord for discernment.
After thinking for a while, the first thing I could think of was Psalm 150:
"Praise the LORD.
I feel entirely blessed to have a job I love. Looking into my students' eyes, I don't just see 8th graders, but I see the future of Honduras - young men and women who will be educated, not just academically, but hopefully emotionally and spiritually as well. These students are - on most days - tremendous agents of joy and life to me, not to mention hope for a country I dearly love.
I feel so blessed to work as a kindergarten teacher. When I look at my students they are exactly what I need. They encourage and challenge me by making me see a different perspective of things. I believe Teachers have the influence to mold lives. Lessons learned from them remain with their students throughout life. Teachers have the opportunity to reach into the souls of the students that they are responsible for.
It's hard to see myself as teacher of the month, because I normally see myself as...just me. As I teach, I'm not trying to be teacher of the month, I'm just trying to be me in front of my class. But as I think longer on it, I suppose that "just me" attitude and mindset might be what sets a teacher up for success in the first place. You might have heard it said that teaching is, in great part, acting.
