Welcome International School, Tegucigalpa’s (IST) webpage. Whether you are a parent looking
at our webpage to see if this is the right school for your child or a teacher who is trying to
determine if this is where you want to serve, I hope you will get a clear feeling for what an
amazing school IST is. We are an unapologetically Christian bilingual (Spanish and English) day
school serving over 1,000 students in nursery through twelfth grade. We are accredited through
ACSI, Cognia, and the Honduran Ministry of Education. Our student body is international, with
the majority of the population we serve from Honduras. Our school is just over 30 years old and
located in the capital of Honduras on a beautiful 15 acre campus with preschool, elementary,
middle school and high school facilities as well as areas for sports and play. We have a rich
extra-curricular program with many clubs and sports for all levels.
When you walk onto our campus, you will be greeted by the beautiful gardens. This is a place
where children feel safe to learn and play. Our vision is to be a leading, Christ-centered,
international school dedicated to transforming Honduras and this is at the forefront of all that
we do at IST. Our mission is to provide a Christ-centered, bilingual, intercultural, 21st century,
American standards-based education in a collaborative, engaging and differentiated learning
environment.

IST teachers are strong Christians who walk in a close, personal relationship with Christ with faithful testimony and witness. IST teachers are life-long learners who strive to use best practices in the classroom for excellence and are role models for students in speech and action. They are ready in and out of season to share the message of salvation with students.
All essential subjects from Pre-Kindergarten to 12th grade are taught in English by certified teachers. The teachers hold a bachelor’s degree in education or a teaching license from a North American university. Additionally, there are teachers and administrators with master’s/doctorate degrees in education or business administration who are continually certified. Each year, experts in curriculum from around the world are brought in to consult on the material being taught.»

Middle School
6TH - 9TH gRADE
During the transition years of middle school, students experience classes and activities designed to solidify and increase basic academic skills, develop critical thinking skills, grow spiritually and serve others.
High School
10TH - 12TH gRADE
In High School, our teachers are dedicated to forming our students into young men and women who are ready to embark on their own personal journeys into the world, showing their knowledge, talent, and wisdom gained through each of their experiences both inside and outside of the classroom at IST.
