Each new day of life that the Lord blesses us with is a new opportunity to learn.  Following 6 years old, I've spent my entire life in education, growing from being a student myself to being an educator.  It does not matter how long I will be an educator for, I will always be a student. I'm a student of Christ.  I'm an awe-filled, dreamy eyed child that finds humor in light-hearted things and follows His teaching as there are so many things I have yet to learn.  I learn something new each day. Something new about myself, something new about God's character, something new about the world around me, something new about my students or something new about what it means to teach.

Although I am a teacher of 24 students, I daily am reminded that I, like them, am a student.  How often do I stand before God and not know how to put my emotions into words? How often do I not understand what God is trying to communicate? How often do I not understand what I'm reading when I read his word?  How often do I misspeak myself?

All of these are perfect examples of what can be witnessed daily in my classsroom with my students and I as their teacher.  However, I as their teacher have to attempt put into practice what I learn from the master teacher.  Just as God is patient with me when I am slow to learn things, I too have to be patient with my students. Patient with them in developing their thoughts and sentences, patient in processing their thoughts, and patient in understanding concepts.  Just as God teaches me by showing me things, I've too learned that with English as Second Language Learners they depend more on actions and visuals to understand the message.  Oh how I, their teacher, am so much more like them.  However, every day as I learn more as a student of Him, I am molded to become more like the master teacher, Jesus.

Will any of us ever be the perfect teacher? No. However, we can live each day as His student learning from him and attempting to do as He would.
